Specs leak suggests Oppo F9 will sport 63-inch FHD+ display, MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor

Lately, Oppo has been teasing its next generation of smartphones, Oppo F9 and F9 Pro, through its social media handles in India. Last week the company posted a set of photos of both the devices on Twitter revealing some of their features. It is confirmed that these smartphones will sport a ‘teardrop’ notch design which will result in higher screen-to-body ratio (similar to Essential Phone’s 90.8 percent). Until now we only knew about the two colours in which the phones will be offered, and that the company will launch both the phones with a dual-camera setup at the back.

A leak has now revealed the key specifications of the Oppo F9. According to an image posted by Android Pure, the Oppo F9 will feature a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display. The phone will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor which is clocked at 2.0GHz. This is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There will be a separate microSD card slot and the memory of the phone can be expanded up to 256GB. Although no information about the Android OS is given, it is expected that the Oppo F9 will run on Android Oreo and will have Color OS 5.2 UI atop. In the camera department, the Oppo F9 is said to feature an AI-powered 25MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture on the front. On the rear, the phone is listed to sport a dual-camera system with a 16MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary lens.

The image shows that the phone will be backed by a 3,500mAh battery and will have a Dual SIM support. Last week, Oppo first teased the F9 Pro with a single front-facing camera housed in the notch that looks like a teardrop. The side bezels of the phone are almost non-existent and there is a thick chin at the bottom. The following day, the Chinese company posted the images of the Oppo F9 which had a design similar to the Oppo F9 Pro.

The phones will come in at least two colours - Sunrise Red and Twilight Blue. Just like the Oppo F9 Pro, the Oppo F9 will come with a horizontally-stacked dual-camera setup placed at the top-left corner on the back. Corning has announced that Oppo will be the first company to incorporate Gorilla Glass 6 in its flagship device which is “expected to come soon.” Leaks suggest that Oppo may bring Gorilla Glass 6 to either F9/F9 Pro or R17.
